Quote of the Week
"...Our recourse to complacency and un-happiness is not to hunt for bigger game or to hide from our deepest hurts. Nor is it to move our inner furniture or to another town or bedroom. Our greatest chance to change our life is to close our habits of mind and to open our ever-virgin hearts."
-Mark Nepo (from his "Book of Awakening") 🌼
This Week's "Subconscious Success" Tip
I chose "a day of silence" last weekend where I spent the day intentionally not talking or consuming media, and upon reflection of how it went, I noticed how much I was living in the future in day-dreams vs. being present in what is NOW. I noticed how meaningful it felt to experience more of the now.
The day seemed to go slower. I was more present with my meal times - paying closer attention to the ingredients and the textures. I found myself staring at my husband and dog and being over-come with feelings of gratitude and love. I could sense more signals from my body when I needed to rest as I was cleaning the house for most of the day.
I noticed my mind going to thoughts like "Man...it's gonna be cool when ______ happens in the future" or "Why hasn't this happened yet? What if it never happens?".
I noticed how those thoughts sent my body into a slightly anxious state...and realized how this state is likely running in the background of most of my days when I don't recognize that I'm living in the future.
In my experience, when I'm not in the present, I may be accessing feelings of excitement about what's to come. I may also be accessing fear, stress, and worry too because of what might or might not happen.
Our brain - whether you're conscious of it or not - sees the unknown as a threat to our safety, which can result in a lot of the stress we feel.
Then this morning, I was reading Mark Nepo's book and today's passage said "We spend so much of our time on Earth running after or running from....We often fantasize in secret, imagining that life is better elsewhere if we could just get there. We often work harder in our dreams than in our life." Ooooof
So my invitation to you today is just to notice....how often do you live in the future or the past? How often do you live in the present?
What would it be like to BE in the present now?
How to Apply This Tip
To step into presence now...
The passage I was referring to from Mark's book has a gorgeous meditation in there that I really enjoyed this morning, so I thought I'd share it with you.
I invite you to take a few moments and come into the here and now with me. 💛

To step into presence and peace in a more on-going way (without having to use a meditation to get you there):
I recommend investing in subconscious change work sessions! Notice which thoughts and feelings prevent you from being present, and work with these as various "parts" of yourself that have deeper, positive intentions.
For example - "the part of me that's stressed about not making enough money" or "the part of me that worries about my dad's health".
Remember, it's not "wrong" or "bad" to be living in the past or the future in your mind...it's just that sometimes doing that can cause un-ease, which most of us don't want to experience on an ongoing basis.
And sometimes, it's not easily possible for us to access the peace and contentment in the present moment because our subconscious still thinks whatever happened in the past is still happening now -or- it's preparing for something bad to happen in the future based on limiting beliefs or picking up vibes from the collective.
If any of this resonates with you - let's chat! I'm happy to share with you how Core Transformation can help you experience life more fully without having to force that to happen.
Why It Works (The Short Version)
In the present moment - the "right now" - is where peace and contentment can be found. This doesn't mean it's available 100% of the time for 100% of people. Rather, if it applies to you at this moment in time, it's an invitation for you to consider that it's available to you.
Why?
Whatever happened in the past is not happening now. The future you are anticipating is also not happening now. So, much of our un-ease comes from referencing the past or the future. So, how can we find peace and contentment in the now....and now...and now?
Ready To Try It?
Ask your subconscious mind..."what am I "running after"? At the same time, "what am I "running from"?"
Take a moment to come into the here and now through a few deep breaths or take a listen to Mark's short meditation.
Reach out to me if you feel called to transform some of these patters and experience peace and contentment in an ongoing way.
