This Week's "Subconscious Success" Tip

A question I've been contemplating lately is "how can I create more space for ease and lightness in my life and not be so serious?".

Laughter and humor have always been at the top of my values...perhaps because it's been a coping mechanism to bring more lightness and play in as I spent all of my formative years in Russia (which can be a pretty serious culture imo).

So today, I want to share with you an "anti-stress technique" that takes less than a minute to do and might make you laugh a little.

If you're easily offended, I'd recommend skipping this one. ๐Ÿ˜…

How to apply this tip

Btw - You might not want to do this in public in front of a bunch of people, but hey also, might also be kind of fun.

If you'd rather not listen:

  1. Rank your current stress level from 1-10 with 1 being calm and 10 being very stressed.

  2. If you ranked yourself above a 5, use 2 hands for this technique.

  3. Place one or both your hands about a foot in front of your face with palms facing you and fingers towards the ceiling.

  4. Now...make an "OK" symbol with your thumb and pointer finger, by touching the tips of those fingers together. ๐Ÿ‘Œ

  5. Now crook your ring and pinkie fingers inside your palm.

  6. Allow any stress to exit through the remaining upward digit. ๐Ÿ˜„

  7. Repeat as needed until stress level has decreased to a level you're content with!


Why this works (the short version):

This made me laugh when I first did it...hopefully it at least made you smile. Laughter is a powerful "pattern interrupt" that can help get us out of whatever we were ruminating on or experiencing before. Science has shown that laughter also reduces our cortisol levels - which rise when we are stressed (i.e. it's good for our health!).
