This Week's "Subconscious Success" Tip

Short and sweet today as I'm recovering from a cold (and I used this a couple of weeks ago for cramps)...

Use the power of your subconscious mind to alleviate pain or discomfort in the body using metaphors!

Note: Pain is an important signal from your body that something needs your attention. While these kinds of tips can be very helpful, if you experience something ongoing, see a medical professional so that you're not masking something that needs to be addressed.


How to Apply This Tip

Here's one easy way to do this:

1. Close your eyes and gently bring your awareness to the discomfort/pain....where do you feel it in your body?

2. What color is it? Or if you don't see a color, what color do you sense it is?

3. What color would feel better?

4. Allow this color that would feel better to gently spread through this area...imagining or sensing this happening easily and effortlessly. As the color gently spreads and expands through this space and maybe even beyond, notice how that allows things to be different in your body.

5. Now - think of what you consider to be the softest, most coziest fabric.

6. Imagine wrapping this area of your body in that fabric, bringing soothing comfort and healing. Sometimes I'll even imagine that this fabric is the same color that we brought in earlier that feels better or that the fabric has a special, safe, medicinal coating that brings rapid healing. Notice how this soft, soothing, healing fabric naturally allows things to be different and maybe even the subtle little changes you feel in your body.

7. Amplify the color that feels better and the feeling of the soft, soothing fabric as much as you'd like and be with this for as long as you'd like.


Why it works (the short version)

Our subconscious mind communicates through metaphors and the senses! Even thought we're doing these exercises in our mind, using our imagination, the subconscious doesn't know the difference between real and imaginary. Therefore, imaginary healing colors and soothing fabrics can have the effect of something that's actually physically real because our nervous system goes into rest/digest/self healing mode, and inflammation in the body can reduce. In short, we can greatly assist our body in self healing through these kinds of processes.

Next time you experience any pain or discomfort in the body, try playing with colors and soft fabrics in your imagination to transform it!
